Find Treasure in your Local Area!

Posted on 21st September 2009 by admin in Uncategorized - Tags: ,

Treasure
isn’t always found for pure “gold weight” value – there can be many
historic coins and other treasures that are rips for the picking.

In your local community, there can be many metal detector finds worth looking for.

If
you’re looking to get started, this can be the easiest way to find
quick success – any town with history can have treasures buried all
over its area.

- Focus on where the old buildings are (were)

Churches,
Schools, Town Halls, Taverns, Bandshells – if you can pinpoint where
these were, then it’s likely that you’ll be able to find a fair helping
of treasure nearby.

These are all locations where people
gathered regularly. From the sheer amount of activity going on, it is
likely that there are still many (as of now) unclaimed treasures just
sitting in the dirt!

Especially areas like bandshells, where
people would gather for celebrations to hear the music (concerts of
those times) are ripe for picking.

- Churches can be a Gold Mine

Many great metal detector finds have
happened near churches. These are often the oldest buildings in the
community, and are representative of the changing demographic of the
area. Almost every town has gone through a boom period in its history,
and items were likely dropped at some point.

Being the oldest buildings, it’s likely that the most historic coins are also available here.

The
further back in history you go, the more likely that you’ll be dealing
with gold or gold equivalent metals – which are much more lucrative for
your time.

- Town Sporting Events

Where were town
sporting events held? If you can find the location of the bleachers,
it’s likely that you’ll also find hidden gems.

Bleachers are areas ripe with people standing up and sitting down – and with every shift, losing coins out of their pockets!

Keep
in mind, that one historic coin can be worth thousands of dollars – due
to the scarcity of coins at the time compared with today’s coins, it’s
likely that a simple find can easily pay off your equipment, and give
you a reasonable profit as well!

Imagine You Could Scuba Dive Year Round?

Posted on 16th September 2009 by admin in Uncategorized - Tags:

Love Scuba Diving? How about vacations?

You’d
be surprised to hear that people have now turned treasure hunting into
their full time job – every day (that they feel like it) putting on
their scuba gear, and hunting around old shipwrecks for gold!

During
the height of the Spanish empire, there were THOUSANDS of ships that
tried to make the voyage from South America and the Caribbean to Europe
- and sank along the way.

While many of these have been explored, not all of them have been found – or properly searched!

On many of them, there’s still wonderful opportunities to reclaim treasure!

Consider this – the gold metal detector has
evolved in many ways. In many cases, some of the ships that were
searched before weren’t done with metal detectors – they were done by
hand looking in the obvious places!

Looking through some of the
old places with a gold metal detector could reap many benefits. Even
ones that have been searched, may have been done with less precise
equipment, or by people that left a few stones unturned.

What is
this worth, you ask? Look for the current price of gold, and you’ll
see. Consider the fact that historic coins are worth even more, and the
potential gain is incredible.

With only a few small finds, you can pay for your scuba gear, metal detector, and more.

With a few more, you generate a revenue stream to do this full time.

A
few more, and the next thing you know is that you’re retired and living
full time in the Caribbean, looking for treasure casually as a hobby,
and telling stories about the gold you’ve found and the things you’ve
seen!

If you’re looking to get into this, here are some basic steps.

- Start on-shore

Starting
on-shore will teach you the basics, and get you started with what to
look for. If you can find a group or a mentor, you’ll go through your
learning curve much quicker.

This will also let you make your mistakes, and let you get into the spirit of treasure hunting.

You’ll learn how to use a gold metal detector much quicker this way, as well

- Study your history

Knowing
your history, especially of the local area, will help you find
shipwrecks and understand the value of historic coins when selling them
later on.

- Get a partner you trust

When moving through
old shipwrecks, you’ll want somebody else with you in the event of an
emergency. No treasure in the world is worth risking your life to that
extent over!

- Get the best equipment

For this type of work, you’ll need a fully waterproof gold metal detector.
Spend the extra to get the proper equipment – many people who have come
before you probably didn’t, and therefore skipped over potential
fortunes!

- Have fun

Scuba diving is a great adventure,
and every amateur wishes they could do it more often. You have the
opportunity to do this full time, a chance other people rarely get.
Enjoy it!

Operating a Gold Metal Detector Club

Posted on 4th September 2009 by admin in Uncategorized - Tags: , , ,

In recent years, the popularity of Gold Metal Detector clubs has been on the rise.

As the price of gold continues to rise, people are looking for gold hidden on popular resort beaches.

While many are doing this on their own, many clubs have also started – partly to teach and learn from others the art and science of gold metal detecting, partly to have a hobby and socialize together.

Gold Metal Detector clubs can be a great activity. Here’s some ideas on how to set “ground rules” with yours.

- Establish a written constitution and club rules

This is very important – rules are the groundwork for what is right and what is wrong in the group.

Rules allow you to go back to the “basics” if your members or executive get off track.

- Help your members gain knowledge

Bring in experts, allow specific members to make presentations on techniques and equipment that have worked for them

- Allow your members to learn from each other

Groups of people can learn the basics fairly quickly. As well, as they grow and become better gold metal detectors, they also have a network developed to share their information

- Develop a sense of trust

Trust is a large part of working together in a group, especially in a group focusing on detecting gold!

Some clubs operate off of rules of trust such as “if a great metal detector location is given out to one person, it should be given out to everybody in the club”

Others operate off of a rule such as “nobody is allowed to ask where good areas are” and focus solely on technique and finding items in the sand

- Have regular meetings

Regular meetings are important to keeping the continuity of the club

- Have competitions

Bury an item in the sand, and race to see who can find it first

Set a day where you see who can bring in the most items by number or weight

Have people guess the depth of a buried item by the sound their gold metal detector tells them

Anything is possible, competitions help people work together and exchange information more.

Gold Metal Detector

Posted on 27th August 2009 by admin in Gold Metal Detector - Tags:

Whether on vacation or for a part time hobby, searching for gold can be an enjoyable (and lucrative!) hobby.

Imagine the next time you’re in the Caribbean, having the chance to walk down miles of sandy beaches, gold metal detector in hand. You’re out for a long stroll, enjoying yourself, mesmerized by the ocean and the freedom of where you are.

All of a sudden, a signal! could it be gold?

You dig, around the area you’re getting a signal from, on the chance that there could be something.

Could it be treasure washed up from a Spanish Galleon? An Aztec bracelet?

With today’s price of Gold, finding only a few ounces can lead to paying off even the most expensive gold metal detector!

- Get started with a gold metal detector.

This is an area where you truly get what you pay for. Entry level equipment is a good way to get started (and learn on), however get ready to do more digging!

Excessive digging can be a helpful lesson when you’re starting into the search for gold. After a few long searches, you’ll start to pay more attention to your equipment, ensuring that you’re confident that there are treasures below before you start putting your shovel to the ground!

- Get out and get started!

Sitting at home will not get you rich. Get out and get experienced with searching for gold, and as you practice more, you’ll be able to look at maps and charts for more interesting ideas!

Searching for treasure is an activity that is part science and part art.

The art comes from having been out, looking for that “magic” signal and looking to see what’s there, and can only be mastered by having experience with it.

The Science comes from knowing your terrain and where the best spots to look are, and over time will come to you as well!
